Evening in Acacia

On the evening of Thursday, May 28, I decided to take a walk through the Acacia Park in an attempt to try to capture photographs of the natural world in dimmer light than usual. The day started with a slight downpour that resulted in the air being damp and humid, yet warm and relaxing. The rest of the day after the rain was a beautiful day. The sun came out, and I witnessed a very clear rainbow that was very close to me. This led my curiosity to ask, “What even is a rainbow, and is there actually an end? Or does it all just have to do with how we are seeing the light through the remaining mist from previous rainfall.” Upon doing some light research I came upon the explanation that, “A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicolored circular arc.” Reading this confirms my suspicion that rainbows are in some ways a type of optical illusion. There is no way to get to the end of a rainbow, as the rainbow has no end. Certain natural phenomena like this easily allow one to step back and appreciate the visuals this world has to offer, even if they are just optical illusions. As the day progressed, the temperature rose as well. Seemingly climbing more and more steadily every other minute. 70 degrees, 75, 79, until it reached a peak of 81 degrees. In all honesty, this is a bit too hot for me. I began to sweat while just sitting outside, wishing that I was lucky enough to have a pool in order to cool down. It was time for me to head inside and feel the cool breeze of the air conditioning. At this point in the day, I knew that I wanted to go to Acacia Park and take pictures of the nature that would be surrounding me. I needed to wait until the sun started to set, and the day cooled off. Once this happened I was all set. I got in my car and headed about 7 minutes east, and arrived at the park. It was beginning to get darker and darker, and I was worried about the legality of my being there at that time. I figured I was not doing anything wrong and decided to proceed on my journey. I began to walk through the park with one main objective. To find the most remarkable life forms I could find, and capture the essence of their beauty. I tried to look thoroughly but also quickly because I did not want to be deep in the park when it was pitch black by myself. I stayed on the prowl for around 35-45 minutes before I decided it was time to head home. This was a fun adventure because I was able to see and photograph many plants that I had not gotten the chance to see up close before. My photography will be displayed in my final project.
